User Activity: What and How (SWOOP for Viva Engage)

What is User Activity

The User Activity report in SWOOP for Viva Engage should be viewed along the Interactive Users report. This report shows how much active users are doing (posts, replies, and reactions) over time. Average activity per user is the average number of interactions done by the users over the chosen time period. Average discussion threads per user shows how many discussion threads there are per active user in the same time period.

Higher activity can be achieved by asking questions, asking for feedback, and by moving more departmental day-to-day activities onto the Viva Engage platform. To zoom in on a particular time period, click and drag to highlight the relevant period.

How to use User Activity

The User Activity report provides a picture of how evenly spread participation occurs across the user base. This analytics will expose situations where the major part of the activities is being conducted by a selected few (also see Influential People report). Strong User Activity would see this measure trending upward. A downward trend might signal a deterioration in user engagement.

User Activity is available at the Segments, Threads, Topics, Communities and Enterprise dashboards. If you are a community leader and you see community activity per user start to trend down, this should be a signal to inject some energy into the community. For example, running a webinar, a competition or even scheduling a face-to-face event for community members. At the topic level, this report can identify the breadth of interest and engagement with the topic. This is important if the topic is an enterprise-wide change initiative.
