What is Activity By Time
The report shows at which days of the week, what at what time of day, people are posting and replying. As you hover over the line you can see at what hour people are posting and replying. On the report below you can see that people are not posting a lot on Sundays, and the peak on the Monday is at 10am.
Date ranges
The report will average the activity for the date range you have selected. If you want to compare, for example, this month with the same month last year just click on the menu in the top right of the report and click 'Compare'. Then select the date ranges you want to compare.
Timezones
The time shown is your local time, so if you talk to a colleague in a different timezone their Activity by Time will look different. The pattern will be the same, but the activity will recorded against a different time of day.
How to use Activity by Time
You can use the report to help you decide when most people are likely to be active, and then publish your posts accordingly. Some people say "I'll post this before I go home today", but that can be the worst time to publish a post if no one is around as your post might have disappeared from your readers' feeds the next morning.
Some organisations will see a very recognisable Monday-to-Friday pattern with very low usage on weekends, but some industries such as retail see more evenly distributed usage across weekdays. Again, use these insights to help you time your post for maximum impact.
