Please Note: This article does NOT apply to on-premise miners. Please see On-Premise Data Miner - Viva Engage.
In situations where general access for third party applications, such as SWOOP, has been disabled you will need to create a SWOOP Viva Engage App. Once this is complete you can proceed with setting up a trial - see Viva Engage Installation - 3rd Party Applications for more information. This process only takes a few minutes.
Viva Engage Application Creation
In order for the miner to operate it must have a connection to the relevant Viva Engage Network via a Viva Engage Application. Generic instructions about how to register Viva Engage Applications are available from here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/yammer/app-registration
To create a Viva Engage application, just follow these simple steps:
- Login to Viva Engage as a verified administrator.
Please note that the application you create is associated with the user who is logged in. That means that only this user can modify the app if this is subsequently required. If you have a service account (i.e. an account not associated with a particular person), then you may consider using this.
- Go to https://www.yammer.com/client_applications
- Select 'Register New App'
- Fill in the following fields with the 'Redirect URL' having the value https://oauth.swoopanalytics.com as shown below:
Click continue, and the first part of the registration process is completed.
- Click on the 'Basic Info' for App you just created and enter 'https://[name].swoopanalytics.com' into Javascript Origins, where 'name' is your allocated SWOOP analytics domain.
Click save.
- Click on the Application name under 'My Apps'.
- Following the instructions: Setting up a Viva Engage Trial (3rd Party Apps Disabled) to configure you application with SWOOP.
