How to set up SWOOP for Viva Engage - technical details

To set up a SWOOP for Viva Engage trial, do the following steps:

1. Go to https://www.yammer.com/admin/set_admins and check you're listed with 'Revoke Verified Admin' button next to your name.  This will associate your account with Yammer as a 'Verified Administrator' if it has not been done already.
2. Go to the SWOOP-set up URL (ask your SWOOP representative for this) and click on 'SWOOP for Yammer.'.
3. Choose where you want SWOOP to store the data we collect.
4. Choose 'Standard set up' or follow the instructions for Register Single-Tenant App for Viva Engage.
5. Pick the Viva Engage network you're interested in from the dropdown (if this fails it might be because of step 1).
6. Claim your SWOOP site name. This will be the URL you'll use to access SWOOP.
7. Provide us with your contact details in case something goes wrong.

You'll receive an email once you have submitted the form and another one once your SWOOP site is ready.

Step #2: Create and activate a dedicated system account for data mining (recommended)

This step is not strictly required for the trial, but it is highly recommended as it helps ensure that the data mining process isn't interrupted by a person inadvertently being locked out of Viva Engage, and also means that the verified admin doesn't get annoyed by a very visible "Private Content Mode Enabled" alert in Viva Engage.

Create a dedicated Viva Engage account for SWOOP that is not associated with a person (call it say "SWOOP Data Miner"). It is very important that this account is assigned the rights of a 'Verified Admin".

Therefore, to activate data-mining you will need to log in to the SWOOP miner and set the account. As your SWOOP representative for the specific URL to your SWOOP data-miner.

To associate your system account:

1. Make sure you are logged in with the system account.
2. Go to https://www.yammer.com/admin/set_admins and check you're listed with 'Revoke Verified Admin' button next to your name.  This will associate your account with Yammer as a 'Verified Administrator' if it has not been done already.
3. Go to your miner admin pages ( prepend 'miner-' to your SWOOP URL e.g. miner-myurl.swoopanalytics.com ).
4. Click on the 'Set Miner to Current User' button.
